David Emerick founded Emerick & Company, P.C. in 1990 after being in public accounting for ten years prior to that. Mr. Emerick graduated from William Jewell College in 1984 with a degree in Accounting and Political Science, and received his accreditation as C.P.A. in 1985. Mr. Emerick has over twenty-five years experience in the auditing field, concentrating his practice to not-for-profits, Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) projects, and 401(k) audits. Mr. Emerick has been qualified as an expert in accounting in the U.S. Federal Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Missouri, and has testified as an expert.
Mr. Emerick, and the firm, on numerous occasions have been appointed by the U.S. Bankruptcy Trustee to prepare trust reports on behalf of the debtor-in possession. He has been certified as an expert and testified concerning Forensic accounting in numerous cases in the Circuit Courts of Jackson County and Platte County. Mr. Emerick has served as a panel member of a task force discussing fraud in HUD projects.
Mr. Emerick serves on the “Peer Review Oversight Committee” for the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, and is a qualified “Peer Reviewer” of other CPA firms. He has also serves as an expert on peer reviews of service organization control engagement (SOC) and SSAE 16 engagements.
Mr. Emerick also serves as Chairman since 2012 for Heartland Outreach, “Hope Dental” a 501 C 3 not-for profit organization whose purpose is to provide mobile dental services to the children of Kansas City.
Rick Hann, CPA earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Pittsburg State University and a Masters in Accountancy from the University of Missouri. Mr. Hann provides overall direction for the firm’s accounting, income tax and business consulting services. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the National Christian Foundation Heartland. He currently serves at North Heartland Community Church in several different areas of ministry, including the finance committee. Mr. Hann has served as an Advisory Director at two local banks.
Jacqueline Roberts graduated with a degree in Accounting, and received her accreditation as C.P.A. in 1979. Ms. Roberts’ work includes two years with a top-fifty national accounting firm, 22 years with a large local accounting firm in St. Louis, and ten+ years with Emerick & Company, P.C.. Ms. Roberts has spent her professional career auditing not-for-profits and performing Single Audits. Ms. Roberts achieves the continuing education requirements for C.P.A.’s who perform Governmental work.
Carrie Munsch is a C.P.A. and graduated cum laude from Rockhurst University in 1991 with a B.S.B.A. in accounting. Ms. Munsch’s work history includes five years with a “Big 4” accounting firm and three years with an international manufacturing company as a financial analyst and internal auditor. Ms. Munsch joined Emerick & Company in December of 2008, specializing in audits of not-for-profits and audits in accordance with Government Auditing Standards and the provisions of Uniform Guidance Circular A-133. Ms. Munsch is a qualified “Peer Reviewer” of other C.P.A. firms.
Ms. McCallop graduated with a degree in Accounting. Ms. McCallop’s work history includes two years with a regional accounting firm and fifteen years with Emerick & Company. Ms. McCallop has focused her work on auditing not-for-profits and HUD audits.
Mr. McKinzie graduated cum laude from Oklahoma Baptist University with a degree in accounting in 2007, and received his accreditation as C.P.A in 2010. Mr. McKinzie joined Emerick & Company in December of 2007 and has been involved in not-for-profits audits, 401(k) audits, SSAE 16/SOC 1 audits, and preparing tax returns.
Ms. Fagen is a C.P.A. and graduated valedictorian from Abilene Christian University in 1991 with a B.B.A. in Accounting. Ms. Fagen’s work history includes four years with a “Big 4” accounting firm and four years with a waste-to-energy organization. Ms. Fagen joined Emerick & Company in September 2009 and concentrates on audits of employee benefit plans.
Ms. Sullivan is a C.P.A. and graduated summa cum laude from Washburn University in 1991 with a B.S.B.A. in accounting. Ms. Sullivan’s work history includes two years with a “Big 4” accounting firm and four years as an accounting executive with a worldwide not-for-profit humanitarian Foundation. Ms. Sullivan joined Emerick & Company in September of 2009 and has specialized in not-for-profit engagements and Form 990 tax return preparation.
Ms. Reese is a C.P.A. and graduated from Rockhurst University in 1991 with a B.S.B.A. in accounting. Ms. Reese has spent over 20 years as an accounting and finance professional and recently joined Emerick & Company. Ms. Reese’s work history includes experience in audit, general ledger accounting and financial reporting. Ms. Reese has over five years of audit experience, both as an external internal auditor, including two years with a “Big 4” accounting firm. As an Accounting Manager for ten years at a local privately controlled investment management firm, Ms. Reese’s responsibilities included coordinating activities and communication with external auditors and completion of the annual report.
Ms. Gordon is a C.P.A. and graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri – Columbia in 1994 with a B.S. in accounting. Ms. Gordon’s work history includes four years with a “Big 4” accounting firm, six years with an international manufacturing company as a financial analyst, and nine years as an independent contractor. Ms. Gordon joined Emerick & Company, P.C. in October 2013 and assists with reviews and audits of not-for-profits.
Ms. Cain is a graduate of Northwestern Missouri State University. She has been in the tax and accounting industry for over 15 years and with Emerick & Company, P.C. for 10 years. She specializes in business and individual taxation.
Mr. Crull graduated from the University of Missouri in 1992 with a degree in Accounting, and received his accreditation as C.P.A. in 1996. Mr. Crull has over fifteen years experience in auditing, with a concentration in not-for-profit organizations (including condominium and homeowners associations). Mr. Crull also has experience as an international internal auditor for a not-for-profit organization that has gross revenues greater than $1 billion.
Diane Dotson joined Emerick and Company, P.C. as a full-time employee in 2013, after working part time for five years prior. Ms. Dotson has 30 years of experience in business accounting and was previously Business Manager at Good Shepherd Methodist Church for 15 years. Ms. Dotson is certified by Intuit as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. She is also an Enrolled Agent before the IRS and prepares individual and business returns for the firm.
Micah Rigler joined Emerick and Company, P.C. in 2014. She previously worked as a tax professional at a national tax company and has over ten years of individual tax preparation experience. Ms. Rigler has also been involved in much of the firm’s international tax business as she spent a number of years living abroad and assisting U.S. citizens with their tax preparation while overseas.
Lisa Johnson is a CPA and joined Emerick & Company, P.C. in 2015. After graduating from Emporia State University in 1994, Lisa began her career as a CPA working for two different boutique firms for thirteen years. She served in diverse capacities as Senior Manager at Varney and Associates from 2010-2014, handling complex issues in Corporate, Partnership, Individual and Payroll Tax. She also served as a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. Lisa Johnson currently joins our team to handle complex corporate tax returns and she also serves as the Tax Manager for Peterson Manufacturing of Grandview, Missouri.
